The Orchard

At The Orchard, learning is fun!

     The Orchard was founded in August 2020 by a licensed teacher. I taught in a charter school setting, as well as the local public school system for a total of 9 years. Although I love what I did, I had a different vision for what I thought school should look like. I wanted a child-centered, developmentally appropriate approach to learning. Additionally, I wanted more of a focus on social-emotional learning to help children learn to process and express their emotions in a healthy way. Children learn best when they are engaged in what they are learning and having fun.

     In my personal life, I am a mother to two boys. They are a large part of the reason that I decided to open The Orchard. I wanted them to have a great start to their school career and develop a love of learning. Before founding The Orchard, we spent our time learning by playing and engaging in sensory play. We also got outside as much as possible to work on those important gross motor skills and learn independence. I make sure to incorporate these same ideas into my lessons and activities at The Orchard.
